eBooks
We may not all love eBooks, but you can't deny their perks!
Anytime access!
eBooks are available 24/7, and 99.9% of them are available even if other people are reading them at the same time. All of GCC could read the same page of the same eBook at the same minute!
Anywhere access!
You can read eBooks anywhere on campus if you are on the network, or anywhere in the world if you are on the VPN. Some eBooks even offer downloads, allowing you to read them offline.
You can't lose one!
Unlike a print library book, you can't lose or damage an eBook. If you lose or damage your device, you've got bigger issues! But you can jump right back into that eBook on your new device.
There are so many!
If all of GCC's eBooks were print books, we'd need to add another 5 floors to Buhl library to house them all. The library owns or licenses over 275,000 eBooks across all disciplines. There are also many open access or free eBooks available as well. Give them a try!
Finding eBooks
There are several ways you can locate eBooks:
Using eBooks
All eBooks in the library’s packages are available for online reading, usually with at least some printing or saving of sections. EBSCO eBooks do these things as well but are more complex. Depending on the eBook, you may be able to:

Need help citing sources?
Is it crunch time on your research papers? Don’t neglect your citations! Your brilliant paper won’t get the grade it deserves if you don’t carefully and correctly cite the sources of your information. Here are ways to get help.
Buhl Library's Citation Help Guides
The library’s Citing Sources guide will connect you with information on every citation style used at GCC. If your paper uses Biblical sources, go to the library’s Citing the Bible guide for easy-to-follow guidance for citing not only the Bible but also Bible dictionaries, encyclopedias and commentaries.
Purdue OWL
The Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) has a great online site covering the most common citation styles. Here you will find a wealth of examples for all types of sources as well as sample papers.
Library Reference Desk
If you have questions, come see a librarian at the Buhl Library Reference Desk. You can also contact us by email, phone, or request a Teams meeting.
Writing Center
The Writing Center, on the ground floor of the library building, can help you with all stages of your paper writing process, including citations. Walk in for help Monday-Thursday 3-8 pm or request an online appointment.
Citation Manuals
And don't forget that Buhl Library also has print copies of almost all citation style manuals used at the college! These are available from the circulation desk for in-library use.
Career Services Library
Did you know the Career Services Office (CSO) in the Physical Learning Center has a library? Here are great books that can help you
Give the CSO a visit and watch for an upcoming carousel in the catalog highlighting some of their newest titles!
Do we get that journal?
When you want to know if the library has access to a particular journal, try the A to Z List of Journals! This quick search tool will show if we have it, in what format, and for what dates.
You will find the A to Z List of Journals on the library home page in the Resources section.
You can search for a journal by title, ISSN (its unique ID number), or subject. You can also browse available titles by discipline.
Once you find your title, read the details to learn more on availability and location. Click the options to access or see more.

Buhl Library is proud to once again coordinate the seasonal Stockings for Veterans event on campus, in partnership with GCC Mortar Board and the local Rose and Black Funeral Home. This is an opportunity for you to help homeless veterans at area shelters by contributing to gift stockings filled with personal care items.
Here are three ways you or your campus group can help:
Visit the event website for the sign-up form, a list of requested items, and more details. The deadline to drop off items is December 6th so that stockings can be distributed before Christmas. Please help support this cause and make this year's event a success!
Staff Updates
David Roberts, who served as Public and Outreach Services Librarian in Buhl Library for the past two years, has moved on to a position at Hiram College in Ohio. You may have interacted with David at the Reference Desk, and behind the scenes he produced the library's newsletters, social media content, and programming. We wish David good luck!
Speaking of the Buhl Library staff, they didn't REALLY dress as librarians for Halloween, did they? Yes. They. Did. BOO!
