Candy Sale for Autism Awareness

We're excited to announce our Daffin's candy bars for Autism Awareness fundraiser returns for the 8th year. This year we are fundraising to provide materials for Mercer Area School District’s new sensory room in coordination with their Special Education Coordinator, Dr. Shirley Spiegel. With the help of The Council for Exceptional Children, we're selling 5 flavors of candy bars for $1 each through February and March.  Please stop by in either Buhl Library or the Curriculum Library, grab some chocolate, and help us raise money for the new sensory room. PS: it's nearly Valentine's Day and chocolate always makes a great gift for someone special!

Book Talks Return!

We are excited to announce book talks are returning to the library this semester. We will be welcoming Grove City College professor emeritus of history Gary Scott Smith during the week of March 19 to talk about his recent book, Strength for the Fight: The Life and Faith of Jackie Robinson. Stay tuned for a formal announcement on the date and time!

Grove City College Authors in The Library

New this semester! Library staff has just finished a project to tag books by Grove City College authors in the catalog. These include any books authored or edited by past/present faculty and staff. There are over 200 such books in the collection!

These are easy to find:

  1. Search the library catalog for “Grove City College authors” (including the quotes) to complete the selection.
  2. If you do any other search, look in the Genre filter to the left of the search results to see if any hits are tagged as “Grove City College authors”.

What's Your Fondest Memory of You and Snow?

Conni Shaw - My happiest snow memories would be making igloos with my big brother.

David Roberts - When I was little I remember getting the biggest snowstorm I can ever remember and jumping in a snow pile and disappearing into the snow.

Kim Marks - I grew up living on a dirt road. You might not know, but you can’t put salt down when things get slippery. Instead, they use cinders. This adds some grit to the road to help with traction. It’s great for cars, but bad for sled riding. One day when I was a kid, school was canceled for bad weather and the roads were plowed, but since the township knew there wouldn’t be any school buses needing to get through, they didn’t put any cinders down. There is a HUGE hill on the road next to my parent's house and, with no ciders, my cousins, my brother and I got to sled ride on that huge hill all afternoon. It was awesome!

Barbra MunnellSledding down my neighbor's front yard into a cornfield on the inner tubes of semi truck tires.

Jill Forsythe - My brother and I would build snow forts.
