Getting Started with Ebsco eBooks

Need Help Getting Started?

 

Contact the library if you need help downloading eBooks or setting up your computer or electronic devices.

Download to PC and Mac

Conveniently download an eBook to view on your computer anytime, anywhere if you will be away from campus or away from internet access!

For Windows PC Users follow the instructions below

1. You will need Adobe Digital Editions, a free program to manage all downloaded eBooks on your computer. Click here to go to Adobe's webpage. From there click on the download link for Windows or Mac depending on your device. .

2. To download eBooks you will also need an Adobe I.D. Click here to log-in if you already have a free account or to create a new account. 

3. You will need to create an Ebscohost account. To create an Ebscohost Account, click here and click on sign in at the top right hand corner of your screen. Click on create account and follow the on screen instructions to create an account.

4. Here's the detailed record screen from the sample search we did. Let's download the book Women and War : A Historical Encyclopedia From Antiquity to the Present to our computer. Click on the Download this eBook (offline version) button located on the left hand side of your screen. A confirmation box will appear. Please note the checkout period, 60 days. Click on the checkout and download button. (click image to view full size)

Click on the downloaded file from the window of your browser or you will also find it in your my downloads folder on your computer. It will automatically open Adobe Digital Editions and you will be prompted to log in to your account as shown below  (click image to view full size)

Authorize your computer to view your downloaded book using your e-mail address and password of your Adobe I.D account. For Adobe Digital Editions

For Mac Users follow the instructions below

3. You will need to create an Ebscohost account. To create an Ebscohost Account, click here and click on sign in at the top right hand corner of your screen.click on create account and follow the on screen instructions to create an account.

Download to Apple or Android Devices EBSCO Mobile App

Apple and Android device users can now use the EBSCO Mobile App to read eBooks on your phone or tablet.

For Apple users: Download the app from the Apple store. Please note: your device must be running iOS 11+

For Android Users: Download the app from the Google Play store. Please note: your device must be running Android 9+

Download to a Kindle, Nook or Sony eReader

To see the list of Ebsco supported eReaders and devices click here. Please note: to download ebooks you must be on campus to access and download ebooks. Once they are downloaded to your device they can be accessed anywhere even without an internet connection.

What Kind of device are you using? You can find these apps in the app store of your device or navigate to this page on your device and the app store will automatically open. 

Kindle Fire

Download the Overdrive app. Follow Ebsco's instructions for creating an Adobe ID and downloading eBooks to your device.

Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite

Please note that KIndle and KIndle PaperWhite devices are not supported with Ebsco eBooks. However, there is a work around. Please follow the instructions for sending a pdf verison of an eBook to your Kindle device  here 

Nook and Sony Devices
