Buhl Library is committed to serving everyone on campus. We have expanded our virtual services to reflect possible situations where you may not be able to physically come into the library building to get the materials and help you need.  If you are unable to come into the library building we will work with you to make arrangements to provide help and resources. Contact us by email refdesk@gcc.edu anytime or by phone 724.264.4729 during staffed librarian hours.

Meet your Library Staff

Each month we will feature a Q&A with a Buhl permanent staff member or student from the library.

 Meet Gretchen Maxeiner

How long have you worked at Buhl Library?

  • 2 Years

Tell us a little about your educational background and work at GCC

  • I hold a BA in Latin from Bryn Mawr College and graduate degrees (MA in Latin and MS in Library and Information Science) from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
  • Before coming to GCC, I worked for 20 years in college and research libraries large and small in Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Illinois and overseas.
  • You will sometimes see me at the reference desk, but most often I am back in the offices behind carts of new books, DVDS and electronic resources (those would be on "virtual carts"!), compiling data on them for the library catalog so that you will easily be able to find the resources when you search in Henry or Discovery.

Name 2 things that people might not know about you:

1. I lived and worked for several years at an archaeological research center in Athens, Greece and have visited most of the key ancient sites in the country. I miss Greek food.

2. I commute from Cranberry Township to Grove City every day. The library's audiobook collection really helps the drive go by quickly!
