Stockings for Veterans!

Buhl Library and GCC Mortar Board are collecting stockings for a drive organized by Rose and Black Funeral Home. Stockings will be filled with personal care items and donated to Pittsburgh's homeless veteran's shelter.

You can help in one of two ways: You can request stockings and then return them filled with donations or you can donate individual items as well. Last year we collected over 200 stockings and we're hoping to surpass that total this year with your help.

The drive is on until December 5 and you can find more details and request your stocking here!

New Faculty Publications

Professor of history emeritus Gary Scott Smith recently published his latest work Strength for the Fight: The Life and Faith of Jackie Robinson. In this religious biography of Robinson, Smith chronicles the important role of faith in Robinson's life, from his childhood to his groundbreaking baseball career through his transformative civil rights work, and, in the process, helps to humanize the man who has become a mythic figure in both sports history and American culture.

Book orders

Faculty book selections are an important part of building the library collection, so here is a reminder about ordering for the fall. “Choice cards”, which cover many of the newest academic releases, have been sent to each department. You may select titles from these or from any other source.

Subject guides

Do you know that the library website features research guides tailored to specific departments and courses that help students find appropriate sources and master relevant research skills? Check out the guides pertaining to your courses, or contact library staff if you would like to coordinate on a new guide.
