Step-by-step instructions


1: Use the Advanced Search and enter the book title and/or author's name.

2: Filter your results by Source Type to Reviews.
Click on the Show More link if Reviews does not appear on the main screen.

 

3: Limit by Date to the year the work was published plus the next year.
This will remove reviews written years after publication.

2: Enter the Title or other keywords.

3: Filter your results to Reviews using the check boxes.


4: Limit by Date to the year the work was published plus the next year.
This will remove reviews written years after publication.

 

Note: JSTOR has a moving wall of 1-5 years, so more current works like Station Eleven (2015) will likely not be included yet.

1: Scroll down the Advanced Search screen to Limit your Results.

2: Filter your results by Document Type to Book Reviews.


 

3: Enter the Title or other keywords and Search.

4: Limit by Date to the year the work was published plus the next year.
This will remove reviews written years after publication.

Step-by-step instructions

1: Use the Advanced Search.


 

2: Find the Publication Date drop-down and choose Specific Date Range.


 

3: Limit by Date to the year the work was published plus the next year.
This will remove reviews written years after publication.

4: Scroll down to Document Type and choose Review. 

 

5: Enter the Title or other keywords and Search.

Step-by-step instructions

1: Use the Guided Search.


2: Enter the Title in quotes, the author's name, and/or the keywords book review.


 

3: Choose date range and pick Select date range.

 

4: Use the calendar buttons to limit to the year the work was published plus the next year and Search.
This will remove reviews written years after publication.

5: Limit your search by Publication Type (if needed).
Choose Newspapers and/or Magazines & Journals.

Search Tips

Limit your Results

Date

To limit your search to reviews written at or around the time the work was published, limit your search to just the year of publication plus the following year (e.g. search 1976 - 1977 for The Woman Warrior).
Title Search for the book's title in quotes.
Author Add the author's last name to your search.
