Calculate Market Share

Need to find market share? Just do the math! Market share equals sales volume divided by total industry revenue. Example: HelloFresh. Sales volume = $702,000,000 divided by Total industry revenue = $2,040,000,000. Market share = 34%.

Estimating Statistics example

Estimating Statistics. Start with what you know. Use Statista, Passport GMID, or another reputable source for customer info. Use what is available to learn what proportion of customers do X? Or, what percentage of customers prefer Y? Example: A company that primarily markets their products to 35–44-year-olds is trying to decide how many potential customers they can reach via Instagram. Your research shows that 57% of 35–44-year-olds use Instagram. Find a base population. Use Explore Census Data. To find your base population, look up the location and, if necessary, a variable that subdivides your customers, such as Age or Income. Example. The number of adults in the U.S. aged 35-44 is 41,914,845. Do the math. Use the percentages or proportions and the base population to estimate, such as the number of customers potentially reached via Instagram. Example. Total # of 35-44-year-olds in the U.S.: 41,914,845. Then multiply that # by 57% (or.57) to find the # of potential customers we can reach via Instagram. Potential Instagram reach = 23,891,462.
