Chronicling America

Chronicling America -- Search America's historic newspaper pages from 1836-1922 or use the U.S. Newspaper Directory to find information about American newspapers published between 1690-present.  Chronicling America is sponsored jointly by the National Endowment for the Humanities & the Library of Congress.

    This database provides access to 12 full-text major newspapers, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, and Washington Post, as well as USA Today, the Chicago Tribune, and the Boston Globe.

    Years of coverage vary by publication, with most titles beginning in the mid- to late 1980s and continuing through to the present. New York Times coverage includes the entire archive, beginning in 1851 and continuing through the present.
